The Women’s Studies Multimedia Studio

The Women’s Studies Multimedia Studio is located in 0135 Taliaferro Hall. The studio opened in Fall 2011 and is organized by Dr. Tara Rodgers with support and collaboration from the Women’s Studies department, Digital Cultures & Creativity (DCC) program, Maryland Institute for Technology in the Humanities (MITH), and the UMD College of Arts & Humanities. This multi-purpose event space and lab is dedicated to fostering connections between Women’s Studies and digital humanities, and presenting art, performance, and scholarship that critically engages issues of identity and difference.

The flexible-use, 28′ x 16′ room is configured as a multimedia lab, event space, and lounge.

Artists and scholars who will visit the studio in Fall 2011 include the author Sara Marcus, the Mobile Homecoming Project, sound artist Betsey Biggs, new media theorist and artist Beth Coleman, and intermedia artist Elise Baldwin.
