Avery Dame is a PhD student in Women’s Studies at the University of Maryland. Avery received his BA (2010) in English from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, and his MA (2012) in American Studies from the University of Kansas. His research interests include social and new media, sociolinguistics, gender and transgender studies, and discourse analysis. His work has appeared in the Journal of Language and Sexuality, Critical Studies in Media Communication, and TSQ: Transgender Studies Quarterly. He previously served as Assistant Editor of AMSJ: American Studies.
