Clara Montague

BA Gender, Women’s and Sexuality Studies and English (2013), Grinnell College

Clara Montague is a doctoral student and instructor in the Department of Women’s Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park. Her scholarly work examines the intersections of transnational feminisms and feminist pedagogies, focusing on the internationalization of women’s studies both within and outside higher education. Clara’s interests also include critical university studies, feminist and queer theory, digital humanities, and critical prison studies. She primarily teaches Women, Art, and Culture (WMST 250), emphasizing performance art, graphic memoir, craft, and art activism.

Clara also has an extensive background in teaching writing and English as a foreign language as well as both developmental and copy editing. She served as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Turkey during the 2013-2014 school year. Clara previously worked as a tutor and administrator at the University of Maryland’s undergraduate Writing Center and is currently the Publications Assistant Intern for Feminist Studies.
