Eve is a PhD student of Women’s Studies at the University of Maryland, and a student of massage therapy at the Potomac Massage Training Institute. Eve’s research focuses on the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, and wellness, especially among social justice activists (defined broadly as anyone whose labor contributes to the analysis of and/or resistance to interlocking systems of power). Broadly, she’s interested in intergenerational trauma; the compounding effects of microaggressions and of navigating oppressive structures on the body, mind, and spirit; the health impacts of chronic stress associated with inhabiting a marginalized body; and more specifically, in the potential role of massage, bodywork, or therapeutic touch in increasing wellness among marginalized people.
