Tangere Hoagland received a B.A. in Women’s Studies from Duke University, where she also minored in Education. Previously she participated in the Moore Undergraduate Research Apprentice Program (MURAP). Her MURAP research project, “Literary Representations of the Dead in Juarez: Un-Silencing the Marginal” focuses on literary discussions of the many women killed in Juarez, Mexico. Her current research looks deeply at femicides occurring in the United States specifically against Black women, as in her 2015 NWSA presentation, “US Black Women and Disposability: Revisiting ‘Femicide” as a Category.”
