Join WGSS for a screening of the 2017 sci-fi film Brown Girl Begins inspired by Nalo Hopkinson's Brown Girl in the Ring. The film will be followed by discussion about the films themes with Dr. Jessica Lee Mathiason.

Brown Girl Begins is an afro-futuristic, post-apocalyptic tale about a young black priestess trapped on an island off the coast of Toronto in 2049 with a small group of survivors whose lives depend on one potentially life altering decision.
