Join students and faculty in the Harriet Tubman Department of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies for the first social justice hangout of the spring semester. We will screen the documentary 1948: Creation and Catastrophe, which tells the story of the partition of Palestine and the creation of Israel through accounts of those who lived through the period. The documentary includes interviews with veterans, refugees, survivors, and historians.

After the screening, we will have a discussion of the documentary with co-directors Andy Trimlett and Ahlam Muhtaseb, who will join us via Zoom. Pizza will be provided. If you have access needs and require accommodations, please contact Elece Smith at esmith18@umd.edu.
